Default rates run 45–65% higher than a fixed deal
When a fixed term ends and nothing new is agreed, your supply rolls onto a default rate — a 'deemed' or 'out of contract' rate. It isn't a penalty, it's just what happens when nobody's tracking the date. Ofgem found nearly one in five UK businesses were placed on an out-of-contract rate in the past year.
For a business using around 15,000 kWh a year, that gap works out at roughly £2,550 a year — or up to £7,500 across a three-year term. Your own number depends on your usage.

Is Percy really free to use?
Yes. Percy doesn't charge your business for the check or the introduction. If you choose to switch, the specialist broker may receive a commission. Ask them to explain any commission and how it's included in your quote before you agree to a contract.
What happens after I submit my details?
Percy introduces you to a vetted energy specialist, who will usually call within a day. They'll discuss your business, check your current setup and explain your available options. Percy isn't an energy supplier, and submitting the form doesn't sign you up to a contract.
Do I have to switch suppliers?
No. The check is an opportunity to understand your options, not a commitment to switch. You can review any quote, ask questions and decide whether it works for your business. Savings aren't guaranteed.
Can I compare if I'm still in a fixed contract?
Yes. Tell the specialist you're on a fixed contract so they can check your end date and renewal options. When you can switch depends on your existing terms. Don't cancel your current agreement without checking any notice requirements or early-exit costs.
What if I don't know my current energy rate?
That's fine. Choose “I'm not sure” when asked about your contract. You don't need a bill to complete the form, but a recent bill or contract will help the specialist understand your usage, current charges and renewal date when they call.
